Has anyone taken the drug Trazodone and suffered any side effects? If so,what were your side effects?I was put on Trazodone by my doctor last week for insomnia and headaches and I have been having bone pain.Has any of you had bone pain while taking this med?

How long is the prescription drug trazodone good for? how long is it potent before you should dispose of it.

LAC_27 replied: "Typically after a year from the dispense date. It starts to break down and lose it potency. Trazodone should actually be taken on a daily basis for it to be effective, so there shouldn't be any concern. Unless it was prescribed as a sleep aide."

surelynotme replied: "I have personally taken trazodone that was several years old and it still worked fine. Not that I'm recommending it. But keep in mind that drug companies put expiration dates on their products partly to force you to buy more. That doesn't mean they don't expire, only that the drug companies cannot be expected to tell the complete truth about how long drugs remain OK to take."

Dove4ever replied: "It should tell you on the scrip the expiresion date. if you cant find it call your drug store it safer to them about that drug, i have taking it before for deppersion and sleep and did not work for me."

is trazodone and prozac the same drug or are they completely different things? i was watching a doco on foxtel and a woman overdosed on trazodone and i was doing some Research on it cause i didn't know what it was and one website told me that trazodone and prozac where the same drug and than another website told me it wasn't so i am a little confused. can someone please help me on this so i know. thankyou.

festfan replied: "Nope. Completely different. Trazadone is used to induce sleep, while Prozac is an anti-depressant. ADD sufferers might be on both at the same time."

Clara F replied: "Different drugs. They can both be prescribed for depression. That probably caused the confusion. Prozac is an SSRI and I haven't heard of anyone really harming themselves with overdose so it is safer in that regard."

Trazodone is not a serotonin reuptake inhibitor; in contrast to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as fluoxetine (Prozac), trazodone's antidepressant effects may be due to its antagonistic effects at 5-HT2 receptors. Trazadone does have anti-depressant properties. In the past it was used more for depression versus being mostly used in present day for sleep."

My mother was prescribed the drug Trazodone for depression and insomnia? I was wanting to know if anyone has taken it or know of anyone that has. I'm concerned about her and want to know if it will help. Thank you

Debbie replied: "I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety when I was 27 years old. I was also diagnosed with post traumatic stress syndrome but I'm not here to tell you my story. My doctor put me on prozac and trazadone. I took prozac in the morning and trazadone in the evening before bedtime to help me sleep, it worked very well and I had no ill effects from it. I wouldn't worry about it. I think that she will do well with it and if she does have side effects that are bothersome I'm sure her doctor will try something else until they get it right. A rested mom and better feeling mom is a better, loving mom."

What are drug interactions of sudafed, citalopram, and trazodone? I need to know if its safe to take citalopram and trazodone with sudafed if you find any reports of bad side effects occurring please post those too.

rmbrruffian replied: "Why don't you just call a PHARMACIST and ask. They know what the interactions are and would be able to tell you if it will kill you. Hopefully you aren't raiding mommy's meds to get high. None of these drugs do that. And mixing them has the potential to kill you."

I'm on Strattera, Effexor, and Trazodone. What will I pop for on a drug test? So I'm on Strattera (40mg) , Effexor (75mg), and Trazodone (3x50mg). Mezuzah replied: "I think you will test positive for amphetamine. You will have to provide a prescription and possibly sign your permission for them to call your doctor and confirm your diagnoses. Don't worry it is not against the law to have ADHD."
