zombiez_attackk replied: "dont do it"

pamela d replied: "talk to your pharmacist about lt"

Mel replied: "I would ask my doctor first. Some of those things are very dangerous mixed or taken with alcohol"

VicariousJade replied: "You should be asking your pharmasist who knows what other meds you are on and how they will interact."

Ken S replied: "read the bottle"

Sarah K replied: "ask at a chemist"

cdabexx replied: "You should ask a pharmacist."

lisa02 replied: "prozac takes a little while to work so stay with that to b safe if not sure ask your doctor"

serena replied: "DEFINETELY talk to your doctor about it first. Better safe than dead."

Nadya w replied: "ok first you are being so stupid because you are suppose to take only one so if you suppose to take one then take only one because really if you want to see yor friends again please just take one and when it time to take it again then take one again and dont take more then one if it sayes take only one."

Leigh W replied: "If I were you I would CERTAINLY talk to my doc. about this - and not get your advice from the on-line community. Prozac is a thought altering drug that can be deadly when mixed with other mood or thought altering substances. A sleeping aid does affect your brain, and while it may work - you may be doing damage that can be found later. Your dr. can prescribe a sleep aid that will help you sleep and be safe to take with Prozac. Remember Prozac can also cause increased suicidal and murderous/violent thoughts in teenagers and adolescents - so depending on how old you are - this could be double dangerous. Don't do it - and talk to your doc."

minootoo replied: "Ask your doctor or pharmacist for a compatible sleeping aid. Prozac is very power full drug, so you must check drug reaction with your doctor. Herbal supplement of any kind as a rule are not tested and do not have good consistency or quality control so you cannot establish the potency."

FREME replied: "Stop taking Prozac or any pills they are not worth it and will only to more pills & eventually stuff up your life if they haunt done so already"

cricket replied: "i take several painkillers with Prozac and i have used over the counter once to, its ok to take some sleeping pills with prozac but i would only take it as directet and if your not sure go see your Doctor, i have insomnia and they found a medizin for me called Klonopin you may ask your Doctor about it, i take those for 7 years now and i sleep so good now, over the counter pills can help but why not go and see if you can go and get something better, good luck."

vmmtunz replied: "Yes, you can. Best to be sure that you read all of the ingredients on packaging. You don't want to take anything that will make you hyper. Like an Excedrin with caffeine in it, because Prozac is an SS-RI that tends to have a more of a stimulant effect, as well as weight loss very rapidly. So st-ear clear of any diet drugs, unless you can handle the rapid heartbeat. As far as adjusting your doses by yourself, that is not a wise idea. You would have to ask your Dr. or a Pharmacist. If it says ONLY 1, then I would hold off on double dosing, or triple dosing."

What's the effect of taking Prozac with sleeping pills? As in, how does it affect your body? The non-prescriptive ones. (are those helpful with your sleep at all? ) If they aren't effective, then I guess the prescriptive ones. xD

T_B replied: "What kind of sleeping pills? Prescription or not and what brand/type?"

bya replied: "sweet dreams"

BeepBeep replied: "Probably a pretty cool one if taken together (if you are looking for that kinda buzz). But seriously, If you are taking the Pro in the morning and the sleeping pill in the late evening I would think NOT an adverse effect on your body. They both work on different parts of the brian anyhow :o)"

Hopefully Helpful replied: "Prozac is usually taken earlier in the day. If someone takes sleep medication, it should still work because the affect of the Prozac has diminished enough for the sleep medication to be able to work. Please play it safe and talk to your doctor if you think you need medication to help you sleep. Best Wishes."

does prozac or sleeping pills show up on drugs tests? i take both and im taking a test soon

lkclark1458 replied: "Even if they show up you have been prescribed them by a Dr. so take the bottle with you. Nothing to worry with there. If you haven't had these prescribed to you then you need to figure a way to get it out of your system. Other wise it is going to show on your test."

Ahorn replied: "I would recommend you to watch following DVD that is available online if you have fast internet. It's told by psychiatrists, psychologists and people who worked for pharmaceutical companies. It informs you - beside other things - about side effects that are not often being told by psychiatrists. It also suggests an alternative in the end. When you are taking antidepressants, you may be better prepared, educated and understand what's going on when you encounter some bad side effects. I would say that these information are actually vital and can save your life. The link sounds a little scary - that’s because many antidepressants have suicidal thoughts and impulses as side effects which you can also read inside the pack of some antidepressants. Alternatively, check these links too. and alternatively school "

Will my doctor prescribe me sleeping pills if I'm taking prozac? I started taking 40mg of prozac a few months ago and feel better than ever, the only problem is I can't sleep through the night, I wake up after 5 or 6 hours and can't go back to sleep and it's been this way for about a month, I've had like 2 full nights of sleep in the past 30 days, which sucks because I feel so much better now, but am so tired I can't enjoy feeling good. I've tried everything from getting a new mattress, changing the room temperature, taking melatonin, no napping during the day, blacking out the windows in the bedroom, changing my diet, exercising, but nothing has worked, so I am thinking about going back to my doctor and seeing what can be done, but am wondering what she can do to help? I've tried going on a lower dosage of prozac before and it was not effective, only the 40mg seems to make a difference. So I am wondering will my doctor prescribe me sleeping pills? or is that unlikely because I am on prozac? I always take the prozac in the morning within an hour or two after waking, do you think switching it to taking it before bed could help me stay asleep?

snapper replied: "they might give you trazadone. it's an older class of antidepressants mainly used as a sleeping aid for those with chemical dependency issues or people without insurance - it is DIRT cheap. when you go to the dr. be sure to list all of the actions you have taken. you obviously have tried conservative treatment, so at this point, trying medication is appropriate. when i took trazadone i took 25mg- sometimes half that. after swallowing, i'd last about 30 minutes until i fell asleep. no hangover either. most docs don't mind giving it because of the risk of abuse is practically non-existent. take care!"

Mathieu replied: "Really it depends upon the doctor. And the doctor who prescribed the Prozac should prescribe sleeping medications (in case in you see a general practitioner and psychiatrist). There is certainly no medical reason you could not take sleeping pills. Some doctors, especially GP's, might not write for sleeping meds. I would also not recommend Desyrel (Trazodone). It is an antidepressant and it is typically not good to take two antidepressants (and your Prozac dose is high). It does not work for most people and after about 100-150 mg it becomes stimulating (due to the antidepressant properties) so there is only a small window where the drug will work (usually 50-100 mg). I typically think it is best to prescribe benzodiazepines (Restoril, Valium) or non-benzodiazepine hypnotics (Ambien CR, Lunesta) assuming you have no history of drug abuse. And studies show that abuse and dependence is rare, often unheard of, for people without a history of drug abuse. All of the alternatives are either antihistamines, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and Ramelteon (Rozerem). Rozerem increases melatonin and is pricey. The others can be used for sleep simply because sedation is a side effect. I think the best drugs fore people who wake up and can not fall back to sleep are Restoril (Temazepam) and Ambien CR. It is up to you and your doctor but I think it is best to avoid drugs that are not specifically intended for sleep as they have more side effects, tend not to work as well, are more likely to cause day time sedation, and typically have not been shown to work long term. However some people do respond well do drugs like Trazodone. Good Luck."

liaojunder replied: "it's about sleep, not a political question. actually, you should face the problem, such as the activity daily work and time you go to sleep. Sleep hygiene included in body and oral hygiene, and most important of them, the tempo for sleep. sleeping pills? I tried that before and I found the same problem with you. So.... If you really want to know what I feel I will suggest that, some soft music and exercise such as stretching, breathing. And you can do something you want to do but inhibit daily. I will watch TV but never over time. and eating some foods but not much. Hope you have a better sleep this night."

Prozac and Unisom (sleeping pill)? Do they interact? How? Please help. I take Unisom almost everyday when i get home from school and Prozac once in the morning (20mg). What are the side effects of interacting these two medicines? Is it bad?... When I took Prozac without any other meds, most of my suicidal thoughts went away. Now once I took the Unisom with it, it has increased. I have high suicidal thoughts. Please help??? I'm 15. Thanks. :)

xxjuggalettexx replied: "maybe u should ask ur doctor what the side effects are considering he's the one that gave them to u, im sure it couldnt be anything tooo bad or he probabley would have never done it"

Mischele, RN replied: "Well why on earth are you taking Unisom right after school? It should be taken 60-30 minutes before you go to bed. It's to help with sleep. Either way, it shouldn't matter. The active ingredient in Unisom is Benadryl - diphenhydramine (which is the generic name for it). Benadryl and Prozac don't interact. If you're having such an issue with the prozac, take it at bedtime so that you sleep through most of the unwanted effects. You also might have to have your dosage upped or you might need a new med all together as suicidal thoughts are a common side effect of anti-depressants (I know, ironic, right?). If it continues, see your doctor."

AJ replied: "There are interactions in this combination although they are not well known. The interactions are not just metabolic. First of all, Unisom (Diphenhydramine) is actually an SSRI in itself. You should always talk to a doctor/psychiatrist before combining 2 different drugs that have SSRI abilities. It is very dangerous. Second, The enzymes that metabolize both Prozac and Unisom, are the same. It is called CYP2D6. Both Prozac and Unisom inhibit this enzyme. Prozac is a known inhibitor of this enzyme. It will end up lowering the amount of Unisom that gets metabolized. The poster above me is correct in that Unisom should be taken about 30 minutes prior to bedtime, unless you were prescribed it for an allergy. All in all, I do not recommend this combination and I strongly suggest speaking to your doctor about it. EDIT: The suicidal ideation from Prozac stems from a major side-effect called Akathisia. Perhaps you can speak to your doctor about giving you something to ameliorate this side-effect."

Just wondering, how many in quantity of these pills would it take to commit suicide? BTW: I'm NOT suicial. I just wondering. 1. aspirin 2 .motrin 3. sleeping pills 4. vailum 5. prozac and for a male who weighs approx. 130lbs., 5'8" 19yrs., how many glasses 8oz. of vodka does it take to die of alcohol poisoning??

pureinsomniac replied: "save on pills , gassing yourself is better , all fresh ready to be taken away"

Mino replied: "I dunno about the pills,..the general answer would be LOTS. About alcohol, all depends not only on your weight or age, but the specific natural resistance of your body to alcohol. Two persons of same age and weight will have different resistance to it. Also matters in what conditions is your body..."

Pete S replied: "I would go with the sleeping pills.. probably 20? I have about 100 xanax waiting for when I need them... I would, of course, take them with a SHIIT load of booze... Good luck, I hope it is peaceful.... (can I have your stuff?)"

dancintomato16 replied: "why the heck would u wanna know....."

papricka w replied: "Asking your doctor will get you the correct answer. I don't think you can die from aspirin or Motrin. Anyone that is thinking of suicide is permanently solving a temporary problem. I wonder how many people who have done this would be so grateful to have a second chance and not do it."

jujl62 replied: "I'm not sure and don't think I would want to know. People that takes their lives leave this world and their families have to stay and try to go on with their lives. I don't believe there could be anything in this world worth killing yourself for, they need to reach out and ask for help. I know you say your mot suicidal but makes me wonder why you would even ask the question. If you or say a friend needs to talk reach out."

friendlyadvice replied: "Each person's system is a little different, so even knowing your weight would not guarantee a sure overdose. You could just end up brain-dead."

pianolover44 replied: "why the he** do u wanna know? what use of this knowledge can possibly be the outcome of this?"

magicangel replied: "Sorry I think this is information that you don't need to know about. If this information is not for you to try and do anything, then you must be getting it for someone else. Why is it so important for you to know this?"

DRAGON replied: "You say you're not suicidal, but I can't help wondering why you would ask such a question? You don't have anything to explain, or prove to us. I believe I've said on MANY questions here, that I don't make judgments about suicide, (although many do). I'd only say that there is really no way of knowing, & I've seen some horrid results when an attempt wasn't successful. At least 95% of the time, people who are seriously considering suicide never even speak of it, or leave a note or anything. I've found it regretful that people talk about how awful it is to leave one's family behind to suffer, or how it's in some way an act of revenge, or cowardice. How audacious to make assumptions. I digress! If anyone here (or anywhere) tells you precisely what to do, (or your "friend, or whatever), be very suspect. I've seen enough of this to know..."

foodieNY replied: "You sound as though you are writing a report on suicide, you can probably find this information on a web site somewhere. The poor people reading your questions probably think you are contemplating suicide and won't give you the information you are seeking. I won't either, I was just making an observation."

PAUL C replied: "Why don't you simply get a shotgun and do it right?"

How long does it take Prozac and Xanax to leave your system? 2 mornings ago I woke up from a bad dream and felt like I couldn't tell if i was awake or not. It made me start having panic attacks. After an hour, I still couldn't shake it so I went and took some xanax and a 40 mg prozac. I haven't been on prozac in a while. I fell asleep and woke up and the weird feeling wasn't gone. I ended up in the ER and they did test and just told me that my weird feelings were from the xanax. Well, I went home and felt a little better and tried to sleep but started freaking out, so I took another xanax to sleep. Woke up yesterday feeling like I was losing my mind. I took my last xanax and headed to urgent care because the panic attacks were so horrible. I told the dr that I had started taking 40 mg prozac and he said that was probably what was making me freak out so bad, that it is a shock to your system to start out like that. So he prescribed me more xanax and told me go down on the prozac, which I did. Today I woke up feeling worse. I feel like I don't know where i am, that I am disconnected from reality, my thoughts are racing and I feel like I am going to die. I called my doctor and they said it sounded like I was having a bad reaction to the xanax and to either go to the emergency room or try and ride it out of my system. I asked if I could take some diphenhydramine to make me sleep and they said that was fine and to see how I felt after I woke up. Well, the entire time I have been trying to sleep, I keep jerking awake with panic attacks. I took the diphenhydramine (sleeping pill) at around 10 am and it is 2 pm now. I looked online and it says that it is active for 4 to 6 hours or longer. Right now I am still drugged up from the sleeping pill and still having panic attacks. I am scared that this feeling is never going to go away and I am going to feel like this for the rest of my life. It literally feels like hell. I have decided to stop taking everything, the prozac, xanax, sleeping pills, everything. Does anyone know how long it will take for this stuff to all leave my system and for me to return to feeling normal? Will I ever feel normal again? I have been drinking water constantly. I am still freaking out. I still feel disconnected from reality and the thought of getting out of bed or talking to anyone is freaking me out. Like I said, this feels like hell.

Buster replied: "How often do you workout and drink water....you body releases a lot of toxins when you sweat and drink water"

Tyler replied: "The elimination half life of alprazolam (Xanax) is approximately 15 hours. The elimination half life of fluoxetine (Prozac) is approximately 5 hours, but the active metabolite of fluoxetine can remain in the body for 4-16 days."

Ahorn replied: "Summary of All Adverse Reaction Reports for Prozac (Fluoxetine) 1998 cases Depression Suicidal/Suicidal Ideations: 113 Attempted Suicides (not completed): 65 Completed Suicides: 187 Deaths (not from Suicide): 34 Homicidal Ideations: 12 Homicides/Murders: 17 Hypomania/Mania: 31 From: ------------------------------------------------------------- I would recommend you to watch following DVD that is available online if you have fast internet. Has anyone every felt really wierd while on ambien cr? I am on prozac and was taking ambien for a while. I felt so wierd. does anyone else have any ambien or ambien prozac or other sleep pill/ anti depressiant stories. I havd to take myself off ambien. I guess Typical ambien reactions. Spacy, memory loss etc. I guess this stuff is pretty bad, so i will stop taking it. It is not the prozac. it is the ambien.

Ariel Q replied: "What were you feeling? It could be a strange drug interaction."

mixedchica123 replied: "I got those feelings also. I was first on ambien with zoloft then they changed it because they thought i was having wierd moments with both meds together. But even when they changed me to prozac, i still had wierd nights. You godda be carefull with the ambien. I was hooked on it for a while and kinda got addicted. It sorta pulls people in, But i think it makes you do funny things if you take it every night. I remember when i took it i would do "crazy" things at night, including crying for no aparent reason, then when i were to wake up the next day , i wouldnt remember anything...But that was me, its happen to people also but it goes away the more you pull away your doses. But that ambien had me hooked for a while to the point i wouldnt even give my body the chance to sleep without it. But your not the only one. My advice would be to slowly lower your doses and the amount of nights you take it a week... Coming from a "former" ambien "addict" thats what i did and im off it now..GOod luck"

Maree21 replied: "I'm a big ambien supporter. It's not for everyone and your experiences are very normal. It can make you do some crazy things but it does go away after some time. I have no effects from ambien except to get relaxed and sleepy now."

What is Prozac? And what is Clonapin or Klonapin? What is Prozac? All I know is that I heard it was pad and like addictive. And you know that movie "Flightplan"? Jodie Foster said that she had sleeping pills and Clonapin or Klonapin. How do you spell that? Are these like post-mortem depression pills?

bkennedy0126 replied: "I can address Klonapin...and I believe that's the generic name...it is an anti-depressant drugs...the should only be taken as prescribed as they affect the seritonin (mood stabilizers) levels in your brain."

kw_jibo replied: "Well Prozac is a medicine used to treat depression. It takes a while to work, since instead of being a direct medicine that would increase the amount of the neuro-transmitter that makes you happy, it is a medicine called a "re-uptake inhibitor" meaning that when the happy neuro-transmitter would normally leave the nerve endings, the Prozac medicine keeps the transmitter there, meaning that the next time your brain would send out a happy signal that it sends out a larger dose of happy. The drug Klonopin is used to treat several types of seizures. Prozac is not normally used for post-mortem or post-partem depression."

ettelagguj replied: "My mom takes klonapin for her bipolar disorder."

Patience replied: "Klonapin is prescribed for depression and for controlling seizures. Same with Depakote."

denial_withatwist replied: "I was prescribed Klonapin for my anxiety disorder. It's a benzodiazepine used to treat seizures and panic disorder (according to my fact sheet my pharmacy gave me) My doctor gave it to me because I used to have panic attacks, usually my heart pounding and racing."
