Minocycline And Antibiotic Medication Facts in Q&A
does the antibiotic minocycline help clear up chlamydia? well heres the deal i took minocycline twice a day for seven days but i was wondering if it help clear up the bacteria i feel good and healthy ...but i still have that doubtful thought inside of me that the medication help so i was wondering if the medicine works the same as doxicline and tetracycline and if their the same thing?? how long does it take to clear up

romeo replied: "YES IT DOES !! NORMALLY IT STARTS WORKING AS SOON AS YOU TAKE IT DEPENDING ON HOW YOUR DOCTOR TELL YOU TO TAKE IT WHEN I HAD IT I HAD TO TAKE IT ALL AT ONCE AND ABOUT 8 HRS LATERS THERE WAS NO MORE DISCHARGE BUT THE MED CAN BE EXPENSIVE!!!"

Colin Doyle replied: "Minocycline, doxycycline, and tetracycline are all different antibiotics but all three have been used in the treatment of chlamydia. If you took the antibiotics as prescribed your chlamydia should be completely cleared up! If you are still worried, talk to your doctor and he or she can order a simple urine test to make sure you are completely clear. And remember: Always take antibiotics for the entire course of your treatment."

Minocycline (tetracycline) does it clear up Acne? I was just put on Minocycline today ! I also use the Clean and Clear kit to! My Question has anyone had good results from this prescription medication! Minocycline - (is a tetracycline antibiotic)? Also has people had many side effects with this? I seem to be having some cramping!

alpla replied: "It's excellent! You'll start seeing results in two weeks or so. To minimize the cramps ALWAYS take on full stomach; after your main meal. And ignore all the warnings (like no milk, dairy,etc..) the pharmacy puts on the bottle. They are true in part but for acne purposes they are BS."

tmuthiah replied: "Primarily used to treat acne and other skin infections as well as lyme disease ."

scene_luke replied: "i was on them and i wouldnt take them yes after a while yur skin clears up because all the bacteria in yur body is dieing even the good ones that promote healthy digestion i got a candida yeast overgrowth in my intestines becasue the bacteria that kills the bad yeast was dead from minocycline i now do colon cleanses once a month and refuse to take any antibiotics they are horrible for u ever heard over staff infection its a man made disease from overuse of antibiotics"

darla replied: "I remember hearing years ago that tetracycline turned teeth yellow; actually kind of a stripe of discoloraton that didn't go away, so maybe you might want to check and see if this newer version has this side effect."

imsety replied: "Tetracycline is for STD disease not for acne but see your health care provider for info, perhaps maybe Minocycline may cure acne, in which case i have no ideas on its used. And good luck."

What is the best time of day to take a antibiotic pill used to treat acne? The medication is called "Minocycline Er 90MG Tablets" and I have to take 1 a day so just wondering what the best time would be

Oreo Schmoreo replied: "at bedtime on an empty stomach."

blaq replied: "EVery night before you go to sleep if you go to sleep at the same time. Or you can take it every morning if you wake up at the same time. Try to be consistent with the times that you take them."

MKS replied: "Honestly, it doesn't matter. What matters most is taking it as prescribed (ie. once a day...on an empty stomach....with food....etc...) AND at the same exact time everyday. Taking it at the same time every day is the way you should always take anitbiotics.....and don't miss any doses"

hustla replied: "Take it when you wake up, thats when i take mine. And its really workinggggggg! :D"

How old do you have to be to take medication without your parent's consent? I have been prescribed Minocycline by my doctor for the treatment of acne. As soon as my mom came in the room and the doctor told me what I was to take, she refused and said I would not do oral antibiotics. However, I and my doctor find this neccessary. How old do I need to be to take medication without my parent's consent? I realise that you can be pregnant or take birth control without notifying your parents, and I was wondering if there is a similar concept for taking medications.

Livvye replied: "Well im 13, and if like i have a headache or something i will go take an advil, then notify my parents later. But I won't run up and ask them for permission if heir busy. And obviously i can read, so i read the bottle for how often I can take it and the side effects."

How can I get rid of body acne? I have the worst case of acne on my back. I've tried taking Minocycline antibiotics and that hasn't worked. I've been using Neutrogena Body Scrub and it makes the skin on my back very dry. I do take a lot of medications, so could it be that my liver is impure from taking meds? PLEASE help! How can I get rid of it?

horse_girl replied: "i use the neutrogena body scrub and i find that if i use it every other day or so and a different body scrub on the other days, that way it doesnt dry your skin out so bad."

leah [♥'s music] replied: "I've been using Neutrogena Body Scrub for months and months and it has not done much for me. It didn't dry my skin out like it did to yours, but it didn't really help the acne either. What I've found that works best is washing your back with regular soap specially made for sensitive skin, and then applying Clean and Clear Persa-Gel 10. It has 10% Benzoyl Peroxide in it, a proven acne fighter. It works well for me, I even use it on my face, but it might dry out your skin since you sound like you have sensitive skin. You don't use it as a spot treatment, you rub it in until you can't see it anymore. You can put it on up to 3 times daily. Within like 4 days I saw a great improvement in my back acne, it's really great. You can try it, hopefully it will do the same for you."

mr poopers replied: "use aveeno oil,, it gets rid of dry skin so i guess it gets rid of acne"

jily86 replied: "many people get the same problem, but i think you shouldnt use too much medicines, it sometimes does worse, really. I think you should see the doctor and then take a look at your diet, do you eat too hot, imean, you like to eat chilly, pepper...? Then take bath regularly with warm water, use soap for sensitive skin...hope it works!"

Emiliy West replied: "People suffering from mild or moderate body acne, I heartily recommend the Clear Pores System. Hard to treat cases are better left to a dermatologist’s skills, although ClearPores is certainly up to the task. The best way to treat acne is to cleanse the skin with a solution containing Salicylic Acid and SD Alcohol 40. The ClearPores body and face washes contain these two excellent ingredients, which are accompanied by the well-known Aloe Vera (to soothe the skin and help the healing process), Dandelion Root and Yellow Dock. Does any antibiotic like tetracycline come in liquid form? I was just prescribed tetracycline (capsules) but i can not swallow a pill. Does any medication like tetracycline such as o Tetracycline o Chlortetracycline o Oxytetracycline o Demeclocycline o Doxycycline o Lymecycline o Meclocycline o Methacycline o Minocycline o Rolitetracycline come as a liquid. I am using it to treat acne.

Andy S replied: "I believe these all do, however it's far less advisible particularly over the long term because antiobiotics can stain teeth. The liquid is mainly for the kiddies. You can get shots too."

SZO replied: "Yes, there are available in liquid forms. I know one as a facial antiseptic. Ask your physician if it will work for you."

Depression from Minocycline (Minocin)? For the past five months or so I've been on Minocycline (an antibiotic prescribed for acne) and I cant help but notice I feel more depressed than usual this winter season. (I have SAD/Seasonal Depression and two parents with bipolar disorder although I have not been diagnosed with it - it's a slew of conditions, I know.) The season depression has always made me a little depressed come wintertime, however, it's much worse this year and I've been having more frequent panic attacks and headaches. Has anyone else had similar side effects with this medication?

god knows and sees else Yahoo replied: "not likely, minocin is a simple antibiotic your depression is from not going outside and having some good sunshine hit your face and arms, tAKE A MULTIPLE VITAMIN, DRINK MILK walk outside as much as you can daily espec ially on sunny days Pharmaceutical Chemist"

mls replied: "I was on that too with Yaz birth control. That shouldn't effect your mood, but headaches maybe. It can cause reaccurent yeast infections too. Talk to the dr."

After taking one of the Tetracycline antibiotic range, would taking another render the drug less effective? My brother has been using a medication to treat his mild acne. The medication comes from the Tetracycline line of antibiotics. Now, he has been taking Doxycycline for quite awhile now and in the beginning it worked wonders. However after about 18 months it began to lose its effectiveness. I assume he's become immune to the antibiotic. Now my question is, if he takes another drug from the same range of tetracycline antibiotics, (ie - Minocycline,Lymecycline etc) will he also be immune to that drug. If all the drugs from that line of medication will have lost their effectiveness he'll have to take accutane, however i wanted to make sure there wasn't a safer alternative first as this did work well for him.(aside from that his acne is non cystic and really not so bad, but it gets him down, so i'll support him) Just a few things He has mild acne, and doxycycline was first prescribed quite awhile ago, however its lost effect. He also uses differen cream, which doesnt seem to work very well. He's been taking it through alot of his teenage years. The acne is really not that bad, but still bad enough to get him down. Benzyl peroxide does not work with him, infact he tried using it once and it caused somewhat of a rash

Laodong replied: "It's actually safer to take to antibiotics at the same time (only on prescription of course) in order to avoid bacterial resistance. You're saying that your brother has become immune to the antibiotic. Actually it's not your brother that has become immune, but the bacteria that infected him. If you're taking an antibiotic over a long period of time, the chance that bacteria will develop resistance against the drug rises. The resistant bacteria will not be kill and keep on replicating, making the infection worse. If you're taking 2 antibiotics at the same time, the ones the have developed resistance against one antibiotic will still be killed by the other and less resistance will emerge. This is the principle for treating tuberculosis or HIV for instance, where 3 or 4 drugs are given simultaneously. Why is you're brother taking tetracyclines for such a long time. is it a chronic illness like cystic fibrosis?"

pharmacist_sid replied: ""if he takes another drug from the same range of tetracycline antibiotics, (ie - Minocycline,Lymecycline etc) will he also be immune to that drug." In medical language we call this as cross-resistance to antibiotics. A partial cross resistance has been seen for the tetracycline group of drugs. So after some time he will be resistant to other drugs of same group. Have u tried an ointment containing benzyl peroxide???"

What am I supposed to expect from these perscription acne meds? Background: 15, male, very pale, oily skin but I dry out easily it seems. Have acne all over my face pretty bad..went to derm and he prescribed these medications... Benzaclin (clindamycin1%, benozl peroxide 5%) Minocycline hcl caps 100mg (antibiotic) Retin-a micro (.1%) Am supposed to take Benzaclin in morning, antibiotic morning and night, and reti-a at night. After my 12th day of application of each I have observed no positive results. I also used an aveeno moisturizer after i put on each thing morning and night..is that too much moisture?..If I only put on once a day my skin looks peely when inspecting it at a short distance and still has that look even when mositured twice a day. Using aveeno foam very gentle cleaneser morning and night also. Please tell me how each med works, how long for results etc.. Also the derm said if these dont h elp me, we are switching to the "big guns", what would thisbe..accutane? thanks -benjamin Will takinga shower morning/night and massaging shampoo around face area then rincing be sufficent enough (to avoid overdrying from washing it again)?

xxVOLCOMxx replied: "i take minocycline too. i works REALLY good. i take it every night. i've been on it for a while and it works so good. and the cream put it on at night too. cause your face breaks out the most at night. i also use the cream and it works good too. try using the moisturizer only in the morning. i wouldn't use the cleanser..it's too much for your face. it usually takes about 2-3 weeks to see results when you first start on it. becasue they say your face is suppose to get worst before it gets better..but mine didn't. but it really works. what do you mean by washing it again? <3"

Should i go out into the sun while on acne medication? I've been on a treatmeant that includes two topical ointments(Clindamycin Phosphate .01% & Differin .03%) and one antibiotic(Minocycline 100mg 2x a day) Summer is coming and i'm in high school (15 yrs old) so we are bound to go outside and do PE. I was wondering if to get a high sunscreen(though i have sensitive skin and tans up quick) or just get my dermatologist to give me an excuse so i don't have to be out? My skin is pretty sensitive...so what should I do?

Stacie H replied: "Most benzoyl peroxide products say that you should not go out in the sun while having it on, but here's what you can do: Put on the medication, give it a good 30 minutes to absorb into your skin. At that point, put oil free sunscreen on over it and you will be all set"

RodiKenley replied: "sunblock wear a lot and take vitamin D of over 400mgs."

Judie replied: "I sure wouldn't advise getting in the sun."
